What Did You Do?

Quick question...Did any of you get the H1N1 vaccine shot? It is now available here and I actually have to decide by Monday morning what to do. Did you get it? Did your kids? Why or why not? I am still undecided but kind of leaning towards not getting it.

Thanks in advance!

Btw, Jimmy's Superhero Birthday Party was today. It was a success! Pictures to come.

Hey:) I struggled with this same think for Kate. I talked to Dr. Foote and Cami Hansen, both who suggested that I get it for her. I got it too because she is only 6 months old.
All of my nieces and nephews also got it, and we've all been fine. And none of us has got the H1N1 flu.
It's hard to know what is BEST for your family... good luck.

Get it...you definitely don't want to end up getting the sickies while you are pregnant...it could be really bad!

We didn't get it. You should though, since you're pregnant.
I don't know why, but it makes me nervous. Maybe I listen to Glenn Beck too much. We've been fine, and trying to avoid sick people.
Good luck!

I am preggo too and got mine. My OB gave me a whole paper about why pregnant women should get it. Pregnant women are extremely high risk. The swine flu could harm or even kill you and the baby. Ty got his about a month ago and he was fine and I felt fine. I definitely think that you should get it. Also your baby can get immunity to it to when you get the shot. So you don't have to worry about her getting it!

I just had my boys get it on Wednesday. Rich got his a couple weeks ago since he's a health care worker. I can't get one yet because I'm not on the priority list, but I'd like to. H1N1 has already been circulating through our area and ward, and since we were in the hospital last year with RSV, I wanted to take any precautions I could to stay well. It is a hard decision, but I agree with the other comments, you should definitely get it since your pregnant. Good luck :)

I am probably getting it on Monday :) I wasn't sure but it seems like everyone is getting sick around me. My pediatrician( who is a really good friend of mine) recommends it. He told me that a patient of his had to have her baby delivered at 30 weeks because she got the swine flu and her whole body started to shut down. Do what you think is best :)Hope that helps.

I'd get it. I'm not in the high risk category so it isn't available to me, but my 1 year old is, and we're getting it for her next week, along w/her second 1/2 of the flu shot. There are always risks taking a vaccination, but they're extremely rare, and hard to even prove the reaction was a direct effect of the shot. I haven't heard of any bad reactions to the vaccine (and it'd be all over the news if that was happening) however there have been lots of cases of the swine flu killing babies and little kids. The risks of the disease outweigh the possible risks of the vaccine by a long shot. I'd vaccinate everyone in your family you can, so your home is safe once the baby comes, especially now that Jimmy is going to school.

I didn't get it, but my hubby did. He's been sicker than a dog for 3 weeks now. Now I'm more determined than ever not to have my kids get it. My Sis-in-law is pregnant and didn't get the shot. She did get swine flu though. It lasted about 7 days and she's better now. Said it was about like the normal flu. I've been doing a lot of research on it, because I'm so torn about what to do. My conclusion is that the vaccine was rushed through so quickly and they allowed a lot of things to go into it that they normally wouldn't. The drug companies are also not being held liable for any problems or complications that this vaccine poses. Which worries me. So, that is why I'm not having my kids get it. If I were pregnant, I don't know what I'd do, I guess think about it harder and pray about it! :) Good luck!!

We got it for both Josh and Will. Neither of them have had any effects from it. My pediatrician strongly recommended it, especially since Josh is in preschool now and since we have such a little baby at home. I haven't gotten it yet, but am hoping to be able to get it, since I really don't want Owen to get sick.

We all got the shot. I had the mist. We havent seen any side effects. Lane threw up, but I asked the doctor and he said it was another virus going around. Good luck with the decision. I know its a hard one.
