My own room...sigh.

I've been looking at toddler beds for I don't know how long now. I finally broke down and bought Jimmy one and he LOVES it! The first night we put him in it he came trotting out of his room five minutes after we layed him down with a sly grin on his face and said, "HI!" He was thrilled, like he had figured out some cool trick and really fooled us both. We tried hard not to laugh and Jarom took him back to bed and told him it was time to sleep. He hasn't gotten out since. In fact, he calls for me in the morning when he wakes up. I've tried to explain to him that once it's morning time he can get up, but maybe it's better this way. After his nap the other day I heard him crack his door open and quietly knock on it. Then he called softly, "mommy?" What a sweet boy! He cracks me up!

Oh and he has to have ALL of his animals next to him when he sleeps. Yesterday I counted and he had 11 of them all snuggled next to him. He loves his blue blanket too and in fact I have to sneak it away from him when I need to wash it, which is quite often. Today he caught me throwing it in the washer and I was in big trouble!

The same night I put Jimmy in his toddler bed, Glade went in the crib. Although he still gets up a few times each night and I do have to walk a little farther to get him, I think I prefer having him in his own room. You know I didn't hang up any of his clothes until I had his room set up? For the first four months of his life I just tossed his nicely folded clothes in a box. I just couldn't bring myself to hang them up in the closet when it really wasn't his closet...I know, I'm weird.

Love is in the air...

Here are some fun pictures of our Valentine's Day.

Love from Jimmers.

My Glade-r boy.

Jimmy and I spent all day writing love notes, decorating and making dinner.

Our fancy pants dinner.

Jimmy got Play-Doh tools for Valentine's Day. He wanted to sleep with the scissors yesterday!

Glade loves his toy as well.

Jimmy Higley Look-alike Meter

This was kinda fun. I tried it twice with both boys. The first time it said they both looked equally like me and Jarom. Hmmm, most people think Jimmy looks like me. I don't know if I believe this thing.

Glade Higley Look-alike Meter

I thought Glade looked more like Jarom than me...What do you think?

Wow, that was Eeeeasy!

So, you know that blog design I won? Well, here it is...yay! I emailed Michelle from Shabby Creations which layout I wanted and within minutes she had sent it back to me with very simple instructions. It took me maybe 3 minutes to do the whole thing...and that's counting the time it took to reset my computer (it crashed on me...I assume because of this bad snowstorm). Thank you to Michelle and also thank you to Jenny for the "Higley's Happenings" idea and all you who suggested a certain layout.

Tax Prep Makes Me Sick!

I decided to make my tax prep fun by popping some popcorn. Then I saw the last Coke in the fridge and had to have that and also stumbled upon the Conversation Hearts and grabbed those. This was going to be a party! Here I am an hour later; haven't touched the taxes, finished all the popcorn (might I add it had "Movie Theatre Butter"), ate way too many hearts and almost finished the Coke...it'll be gone by the time this posts. Ugh, next time I'll try to not make tax prep so "fun."

I'm The Winner!!!

So I won a blog makeover and I can't decide which layout to choose. Help! Click on this link and let me know which you like best. My favs are Edna, Grace, Holly, & Mabel. Which do you like? Which seem most "Erika"? Thanks...I'm so indecisive! Oh and do you have any good ideas for a blog title? "Higley Family" is just way too boring but I'm drawing a blank.

Hinckley Challenge

First, I just want to say a few things. President Hinckley's death never really hit me until church yesterday and then watching his funeral afterwards. I got teared-up in Sacrament meeting when we started singing the closing hymn "God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again." Whoever chose that song was a little cruel...jk...I couldn't sing though. I just sat there and read the words. What an amazing man and how lucky I am to have lived during his day. One of the things that stands out in my mind is his amazing relationship with his wife and how sweet they always were to each other. I hope that I can better myself because of him.

I just saw this on my friends blog and thought what a great idea it was and wanted to share with all of you. I know I am going to try and do it, you should too.

There's a challenge to read the Book of Mormon in 97 days (his age when he died). The people who started the challenge are trying to get everyone to start on the same day. Here are the details:

Go to www.hinckleychallenge.com and create an account (free, of course). On Feb 4, 2008 (TODAY) begin your reading. Each day you read, log on and record what page number you are on. It even shows you how many pages you need to read that day to keep you on track...pretty nifty.

So will you join me in this challenge?

ABC Tag

ABC's of Me:

A- Attached or single: Attached for the past 4 years!

B- Best Friend: Definitely Jarom. There's no one I'd rather be with and talk to than him. He always makes me smile and laugh, even when I don't want to!

C-Cake or Pie: Rita's Cheesecake...Mmmm.

D- Day of Choice: Saturdays and Sundays because Jarom has off work and I have a car.

E- Essential Item: My cell phone. Even though I don't love to talk on the phone, I can't imagine not having a cell.

F- Favorite Color: I used to say blue but I think it's changed to red.

G- Gummi Bears or Worms: I love both but I buy bears more often.

H- Hometown: Mapleton, UT

I- Indulgence(s): Reading good books, eating chocolate (especially Dove promises), watching my fav shows when the boys are in bed, driving with the music blasting (although I can only do this if I'm alone...if other people are with me the loud music seems to irritate me), reading other people's blogs, scrapbooking and other crafty things, and snuggling with my three handsome boys!

J- January or July: July all the way! Why? It's warm (although sometimes a little too warm), family vacations, playing in the park and of course my birthday!

K-Kids: Jimmy (I don't think he knows his real name is James): 2 yrs
Glade: 4 months

L-Life is incomplete without: My family & the Gospel

M- Marriage Date: August 24, 2004

N- Number of Siblings: 3 sisters, 2 brothers

O- Oranges or Apples: Gala Apples from Smith's (I swear the WalMart ones don't taste as good).

P- Phobias or Fears: I've always been afraid I'd have a miscarriage, one of my children would be taken from me or I'd get cancer. Recently I've had a lot of dreams that my house catches on fire or that my husband doesn't want me any more...sad, I know...thankfully all just dreams. Oh and I don't like spiders. Jimmy's my spider squisher!

Q- Quote(s): "In the eternal perspective, children - not possessions, not position, not prestige - are our greatest jewels."
"What children take from us, they give, we become people who feel more deeply, question more deeply, hurt more deeply, and love more deeply."

R- Reason To Smile: Glade's toothless grin and adorable frown, Jimmy giving me hugs and pats and saying, "Is otay Mommy." And Jarom calling to say he had a late lunch so I don't need to make dinner.

S- Season: I love the beginning of each season then I tend to wish for the next.

T- Tag: How about Katie and Chira.

U- Unknown Fact About Me: I've thought about this one for far too long. Here are few that not everyone knows so maybe out of the few there is one you didn't already know...

I broke up with Jarom two times (or was it three) before we got engaged. He just kept coming back for more...thankfully.

I choked on a green Spree when I was 14 or so and had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Lessons learned...never eat candy after brushing your teeth and don't laugh at jokes with Sprees in your mouth.

Last time I went to the dentist (2 yrs ago...yikes) I was complimented on my flossing. Truth be told I had only flossed maybe 12 times in the past 12 months and the majority of those were within days of my appointment.

I hate washing off my mascara at night and it sometimes keeps me from putting it on in the morning, "if I never put it on I don't have to take it off."

Growing up, I always wanted a pet monkey. How fun would that be?

V- Vegetarian or Oppressor of Animal: Bring on the animal! My fav is steak and salmon.

W- Worst Habit: I eat more between the hours of 9 pm and midnight than I do the rest of the day. I'm definitely a snacker.

X- X-Rays or Ultrasounds: Well considering I've never had an X-Ray (no broken bones or even sprains), I'd have to say ultrasounds. One of the best days of pregnancy is ultrasound day...I love it! Everything seems more real once I see my baby.

Y- Your Favorite Food: Anything I didn't cook (not that I cook poorly, I just enjoy it more if I didn't make it). I love Pizza Hut's deep dish pizza, Red Robin's mushroom burger and Tepanyaki's anything.

Z: Zodiac: Cancer, I think (July 26th).
